Elizabeth Adongo, Board Member

Elizabeth is the Programme Coordinator at Building Healthier Communities (formerly African Community Partnership) which works actively to tackle health inequalities in the New Cross Gate area of London.

She is the current Chair of the New Cross Gate Trust and acts as one of the nominated representatives for the local third sector.

While at Reading University Elizabeth studied Agricultural Economics and Food Marketing, followed by a Masters in Urban Globalization and Culture.  Her passion for healthy food production is still evident as every Friday she serves at the local Food Coop’s fruit and vegetable stall, a project that works with local volunteers to provide fresh, local produce.

Elizabeth's work within the local community focuses on tackling inequalities and empowering young people.  In August 2007 she took 40 young people from London to Africa as part of the British Council Africa 2007 youth exchange programme.

Recognised for her achievements she has received many awards from bodies including; the Home Office, New Cross Gate NDC and the Mayor of London.

Prior to working with BHC Elizabeth worked with the London Borough of Lewisham, New Cross Gate New Deal for Communities as a Project Manager.
