Board and Governance
London Rebuilding Society is an Industrial and Provident Society for the benefit of the community, registered under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965, and is recognised as an Exempt Charity by the Inland Revenue.
We are a one-member-one-vote organisation, in which individuals or corporate bodies may buy shares and become members (see Investing in London.) We operate as a mutual, and however many shares held by a member they still have only one vote. We hold an Annual General Meeting at which the board of directors is elected from the membership, and we provide further information in the form of an Annual Report and Audited Accounts.
We encourage membership from as wide a base as possible, and our goal is for our membership to be truly representative of all of our stakeholders. We want individuals and enterprises committed to London to join us in investing in London, and shaping our activities.
The elected board of directors meets six times a year, and is responsible for strategy and financial probity. They elect a chair of the board annually, as well as a vice chair and treasurer. Our present chair is Steve Round.
