Busoga Development Trust

Busoga Development Trust (BDT) is a newly established trading arm of the Busoga Association and was formed to run the Mutual Lending Scheme for members of Busoga Association.

Busoga Association is a UK registered charity set up in June 1996 to improve the quality of life of people from the Busoga Region of Uganda, who were experiencing difficulty integrating in the UK.

Over the years the services offered by the organisation have evolved from addressing basic social integration needs such as advice, representation, translation and interpreting services in such matters as asylum, immigration, welfare benefits, housing and access to health to training for employment and economic empowerment.

Busoga Association’s main areas of operation are:

· Health promotion: raising awareness on HIV/AIDS, teenage pregnancy, alcohol and drug misuse.

· Representation of the needs of the community through participation in health and regeneration forums.

· Training in skills for employment and enterprise development.

· Promoting Busoga culture by engaging young people in activities to increase knowledge of their culture through music, dance, drama and language skills.

BDT has a loan of £40,000 from LRS.
