The Innovatory

Founding directors Neil Barklem, Chris Brennan and Patrick Nicholson set up what was originally Hoxton Bibliotech in 1995 as an educational social enterprise.

They launched D>tour, an East London lifestyle print magazine, and developed and successfully ran accredited vocational training courses in electronic media. This was followed by the award-winning e-zine, e-tour, along with a series of innovative digital media training courses, print, design and web production services. In 1999, Hoxton Bibliotech's rapid growth allowed it to move into a specially designed new media centre at 239 Old Street; it  has now changed its trading name to The Innovatory. Since then, the company has been involved in numerous successful educational projects (the list is simply too long to give here! - visit their website for more details on courses, and business services and loans), probably the best known of which is the national launch of LearnDirect, the government's University for Industry initiative for e-learning, in November 1999. In January 2001, it launched the innovative e-commerce start-up project, The Digital Incubator for London (www.londondigitalincubator.com), in partnership with the London Development Agency, to support fledgling start-up companies. It has been involved in numerous successful educational projects, probably the best known of which is the national launch of LearnDirect, the government's University for Industry initiative for e-learning, in November 1999.
