Widows and Orphans International
Widows and Orphans International was set up to address the many challenges faced by African communities in the UK and abroad, who experience various forms of social exclusion.
The organisation aims to promote health, socio-economic and cultural development among African communities, both in the UK and Africa, and has a strong focus on supporting people, especially women and children, who are living with HIV/Aids.
WOI is one of the group members of LRS' Mutual Aid Fund scheme, and has undergone Learning to Lend training in order to qualify as a Community Investment Intermediary.
WOI's aim is to set up a self-help investment and loan scheme, with a loan of £30,000 from London Rebuilding Society.
