New Citizens’ Voice
New Citizens’ Voice (NCV) was established in 2003 by Maria Leyva-Portilla, a professional radio journalist of Peruvian origin.
Its aim is to assist immigrants from different backgrounds to integrate with each other, and into UK society, by promoting the use of English as a common language, an understanding of British constitution and politics, and the concept of UK citizenship.
NCV does this through its website, radio broadcasting, and the organisation of workshops.
An initial loan of £10k from LRS in 2007 enabled it to move from the director's home into part-time rented office premises, to increase Marketing effort and significantly increase the number of workshops it organises.
A second loan of £10k in 2009 will help to manage cash flow as NCV extends its activities across London.
