International Guitar Foundation
IGF was founded in 1994 with three main objectives: (1) to encourage an international guitar culture and playing, through summer schools, workshops and outreach projects; (2) to provide performance opportunities, including organising festivals; and (3) to commission new work and recordings.
IGF wishes to encourage all forms of guitar culture, whether rock, jazz, blues or classical. The 'international' in its name is a reflection of the range of musical genres covered.
To assist in its expansion, LRS has loaned IGF £25,000 to take on staff for fund-raising, marketing and event preparation, and for activities at two new venues, The Sage in Gateshead (2007) and Kings Place Arts Centre in London (IGf is due to move there in October 2008).
