Tower Hamlets Co-operative Development Agency
Tower Hamlets CDA provides a range of free and confidential business start-up services to community businesses, social enterprises and co-operatives.
It provides assistance with such essentials as writing a business plan and finding finance. The CDA also promotes healthy eating via Food Co-ops, and has several projects which promote re-cycling. It specialises in working with co-operatives where ownership and control are shared among the members. Established in the early 1980s, THCDA is one of the few remaining Co-operative Development Agencies left in London. It concentrates almost exclusively on co-operative and mutual structures that create economic benefits, in an area of great measurable disadvantage and therefore of many funding streams for regeneration and employment development.
