Greater London Energy Efficiency Network (GLEEN)

The Greater London Energy Efficiency Network (GLEEN) was set up in 1999 by the Energy Saving Trust, with the support of local authorities in London, and funding from the European Union’s SAVE II programme.

Its aim is to assist the 33 London Local Authorities to deliver energy efficiency and fuel poverty schemes.

Having previously borrowed twice from LRS (£35,000 in 2005 and £50,000 in 2006), GLEEN has borrowed a further £100,000 from LRS to set up its EPC Manager scheme.

This is a specific offering to all Local Authorities and Social Housing Providers in England and Wales to help them meet their obligations to produce Energy Performance Certificates for all properties offered for let from the 1st October 2008; GLEEN’s methodology produces these certificates in a more cost-effective way, thereby reducing the Local Authority’s bill.

Its subsidiary HelpCo (the Heat Light and Power Company) is also a partner in LRS' Home Equity housing scheme (see elsewhere on this website), providing energy efficiency surveys, advice and assistance for client homeowners.
