OYBike

The OYBike system is a street-based rental station network that lets you hire and return a bicycle via your mobile phone.

Once you have registered with OYBike, you can collect a bike from a London Underground station, or various public buildings, transport interchanges and car parks, releasing it with a unique pin code that correlates with the bicycle's code and is sent to you via text message on your mobile. When you have completed your journey/usage, you then leave the bike at an appointed location - suitably locked up, of course.

The scheme was piloted in the winter of 2000 in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, but from August 2004 became available right across the capital. London Rebuilding Society assisted the successful pilot phase with a £30,000 loan.
