Corsica Studios

Forget Flanagan & Allen, these days 'underneath the arches' you're more likely to find Moss & Jones, founders of Corsica Studios.

Visual artist Amanda Moss and musician Adrian Jones needed premises where they could not only have studios in which to develop their work, but also, more importantly, a space in which the finished articles could be displayed or performed for the public.

Beginning in 2000, they developed some short-term projects in a variety of different spaces - such as club nights when you can dance the night away whle looking at artworks and videos - but, despite the attraction of cheap rents, they found it very stressful having to re-locate every 12 or 18 months.

However, Amanda and Adrian reasoned that others were probably having the same problems, so they came up with the idea of a permanent dual-purpose work/performance space where other artist-practitioners could also develop and exhibit their work.

Corsica Studios has received two loans from LRS. The first (£25,000) was to assist in the initial refurbishment and set-up of the premises. The second (£10,000) was to pay for the final refurbishment of the studios.
