Proper Produce
Proper Produce is a supplier of proper meat – by which they mean organically reared and sourced from an ethical and environmentally-friendly company, and delivered to you in South-West London (Twickenham, Richmond, Kingston and Chiswick).
The source animals are traditional breeds, which are fattened without using growth promoters or routine antibiotics. They are well kept on Soil Association-certified farms, in keeping with which all meat is labelled with the name of the grower and the butcher. The meat is delivered in a returnable insulated box with frozen pads, which ensures that the produce remains cold for up to 24 hours, and there are various schemes by which you can reduce the cost of delivery. Proper Produce is also investing in the production of bio-diesel, not only to fuel its own vehicles but ultimately for sale to the public. Founder Stephen Hurton is evangelical about ethical trading, social enterprise and sustainability, and the company's website is a mine of information on the subjects as well as a convenient, inexpensive and ethical way of doing your meat shopping.
