Shape London
Shape was founded in 1976 and is the UK’s leading disability arts organisation. It aims to improve access to the arts for hearing impaired people and those with disabilities, to support them in challenging negative perceptions of disability, and generally promote deaf and disability culture.
It was set up by both able-bodied and disabled artists who were angry at disabled exclusion from several large arts festivals and events in the 1970s. It has been given a £30,000 unsecured loan facility by LRS to be used in case of negative cash flow and to take advantage of growth opportunities that might arise.
