The Soul Project
The Soul Project is a Community Interest Company that aims to provide affordable facilities and organised activities for children, accompanied by their parents/carers, professional entertainers or childcare workers.
The project opened its Family Activity Centre in Wood Street, Walthamstow, E17, in September 2007 in a former clothing factory, and its soft play area became an instant hit with local families.
Children with special needs can use this area safely, and the centre also boasts a fully-equipped sensory room. Other facilities, such as the rotating climbing rock, have proved popular not only with older children, but also with their grandparents. When they're not playing with the youngsters, there is also plenty of space for adults to relax in the cafeteria area.
The Soul Project now intends to convert the first floor of the building into additional family-centred facilities, including an IT suite and a dance/performance area, and LRS has provided a loan of £50,000 to part-finance the work.
