Fuse Jobs
Fuse Jobs is an online recruitment website (jobsite) that specialises in the niche market of entry-level and lower-level jobs and jobseekers. Fuse Jobs feels that this niche is large, untapped and under-served.
Fuse Jobs is being launched by Matt Haikin and Amanda Lacey, who met while working for Cisco systems. Before this, they both had extensive experience and knowledge of the not for profit sectors and jobs markets. They were also aware of the rise of on line sites for recruiting agencies - 'e-recruiting' - and felt that there was a gap in the market for such a recruiting service that targeted the often ignored lower end and starter jobs market.
This is a market traditionally spurned by recruitment agencies and which has been left largely to public sector bodies such as Job Centre Plus. They feel that the cost savings of the web-based model would enable them to exploit this potential and generate the income needed to make the business model succeed..
In July 2007 they invested money - and time - to run a pilot project to test the market. They received very positive feedback, especially from Job Centre Plus, and this convinced them that there was indeed a market. London Rebuilding Society provided a £40k loan to fund the launch.
