Housing
London Rebuilding Society offers a home improvement scheme for homeowners and leaseholders in East London whose homes are inadequate or in disrepair and are facing financial and personal challenges. In exchange for a percentage of the equity in your home we provide a package of repairs and services tailored to meet your needs and circumstances to help you ensure that your home is warm, dry, safe and secure.
The Housing Improvement Scheme is currently only available in the London Boroughs of:
- Barking & Dagenham
- Hackney
- Havering
- Newham
- Redbridge
- Tower Hamlets
- Waltham Forest
What can the scheme do for you?
- We arrange an independent survey and valuation of your home, then, with your agreement, draw up a schedule of costed works. So you can make an informed decision about what works you want done.
- During the works process we can arrange any temporary accommodation you may require
- After your house has been refurbished we can arrange support services to help you to remain independent, comfortable and financially secure
- We only use approved contractors
- London Rebuilding Society project manages all works whilst keeping you involved in the process
- The scheme is based around a swap not a loan so there are no monthly repayments and no effect on means tested benefits
- The scheme is based on equity reversion which simply means that there is only one repayment when you choose to sell your house so there is no risk of repossession
