London Rebuilding Society is a social enterprise specialising in innovative products and services that support individuals and households. We create healthy homes through increased energy efficiency, and better lives by helping reducing energy costs, increasing household income, improving health and well being.

Board and governance

London Rebuilding Society is a Registered Society under the Cooperatives and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 and is recognised as an Exempt Charity by the Inland Revenue No. XR65865. London Rebuilding Society Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. FCA Permission No: 735804.

As a mutual, London Rebuilding Society is owned by its members. When you buy shares in London Rebuilding Society you become a member. All members of London Rebuilding Society have one vote, however many shares they hold. Both individuals and corporate bodies may buy shares in London Rebuilding Society and become members.

We hold an Annual General Meeting at which the board of directors is elected from the membership – we provide further information to members in the Annual Report and Audited Accounts.
The elected board of directors meets six times a year, and is responsible for strategy and financial probity.  They elect a chair of the board annually, as well as a treasurer.

Board members

Naomi Kingsley – Board Member / CEO

Naomi has 30 years experience in economic development, regeneration and social enterprise. She has operated at Director and Board level across public, private and third sectors.

As an entrepreneur she has run businesses in the UK and south East Asia. Naomi founded London Rebuilding Society in 2000 after a year in the US on a Harkness Fellowship and has led the business since, creating an exemplary reputation in the industry. She leads LRS to develop practical solutions to improve housing and well being where the market currently fails.

Richard Butler – Board Member

Richard is the co-founder of Aylesbury Partnership supporting social organisations to win and deliver public service contracts.

He is currently working as a consultant, and completed an MSC in Health Economics. Previously, he was: the Interim Finance Director of 3SC LLP delivering public sector contracts worth £35m; Social Investment Manager at Macmillan Cancer Care; A Senior Investment Manager at CAF Venturesome. Richard is a Chartered Financial Analyst and from 2000–2008 was an equity analyst leading the insurance sector investment team at Credit Agricole Asset Management.

Simon Green – Chair of the Board

Civil engineer by training, Simon has over 20 years experience in the development and management of leading multi-million energy/sustainable development projects in the UK. He is currently Director of Marketing for VRM Tech.

Before joining VRM he was the Head of Sustainability at Lakehouse, construction specialists operating in social housing, education, and health. Prior to that he was Head of Development at the Energy Saving Trust, and represented the UK on EnR (the European Energy Network) from 2005.

Angela Ishmael – Board Member

Angela was Director of Dignity at Work Community for the Work Foundation, Diversity Advisor at the London Business School, and Chief Executive of Ackroyd Children and Families. She is an experienced Diversity consultant and coach with over 25 years of expertise within the private, public and third sectors.

She is the London Rebuilding Society board member lead on diversity and governance, and working with the Chief Executive to provide training programmes, guidelines, and ongoing support for all staff, and in particular front line staff working with vulnerable clients.

John Perry – Board Member / Treasurer

John brings a wealth of experience to LRS and a fresh eye. Senior Finance Executive with 30 years of extensive international, energy sector, he has held executive and non-executive DFO/Finance Director positions managing assets in excess of $10bn and up to 2,000 staff.

He has been an executive and non on a JV Board, chaired a Pension Fund Trust and Board Audit Committees. John is also a strong global Finance leader in motivation and skills/talent development and staff mentoring. John has a proven track record in developing and implementing business strategy. He led business organisation through significant restructuring and transformation in diverse cultures. He has driven process management improvement and has strong experience in risk and control frameworks and in business governance. Since 2012 he has been a business mentor to young entrepreneurs, start-up ventures, charities and finance executives.
